Great Start to Paul's International Debut!

Huge congratulations to Paul Gilbert who finally got to compete on the International Stage last week in the World Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain. Paul started to train for duathlon less than 2 years ago with the objective of representing GB in his age group at the Olympic distance of 10k run/42k bike/5k run. There were lots of 'false starts' due to Covid, with qualifying events being postponed and then the World Champs themselves being delayed. This combined with training in the heat and humidity of Bahrain made it an immense challenge for both athlete and coach! Then last weekend it finally happened and Paul did himself proud in only his 4th Olympic distance duathlon. He was up against some very experienced and talented competition and raced hard to take 10th place overall and 4th Brit - a great International debut!
