Lena becomes British Age Group Champion in Leeds!

What a fabulous month it has been for Lena Poulton following a year of minimal competition in the world of triathlon, and she has certainly made up for it! Eton Sprints in mid May was followed a week later by the Huntsman Middle Distance triathlon, a tough enough event on a warm sunny day. Lena had to compete in cold driving rain which for a long course event really isn’t very pleasant. It took all of her reserves both physically and mentally to complete the race. And then to finish off her 4 week racing blitz she competed in the Leeds Olympic distance triathlon on Sunday. This was a World Qualifier and the British Championships. A tough hilly bike and run course but this time thankfully with some warm sunshine. Lena had to really focus on her recovery in the 2 weeks following the Huntsman so as to be fresh for this event. And she was well and truly rewarded for all of the hours she has invested in training and then the extra recovery. Lena won her age group by over a minute to become British Champion. A great start to the tri season for Lena!
