It's Been A While...

I have had very little news to impart this year with lock down but at last, something to cheer about! One of my clients, Cath McLeod has had a highly productive lock down and has been 100% focused on training towards her first Half Marathon despite all of the official races being cancelled due to Covid 19. Yesterday she completed her own individual Half Marathon on the roads of Great Kingshill - she ran a highly respectable 2.13 and clearly has the potential to go faster when she has some other runners to chase down!

I came to Helen when I completed my couch to 5km course. I had no previous running experience and had been prioritising my family/home/job over my health and fitness.

Helen wrote me plan which was flexible to fit around my commitments and was interesting enough to stop me getting bored but not so challenging that I felt worried by it. I decided to enter the Great North Run. Helen worked very closely with me adjusting my plan as needed to get me race ready and injury free. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the race was postponed to 2021 so we agreed that I would try a solo half marathon out locally. Helen was full of helpful tips not just on the physical side but refuelling and the mental challenge.

On a damp Saturday morning with no expectations I headed out and completed the half marathon in 2 hours 13 minutes. Most importantly I felt prepared, strong and enjoyed it.

I was last in every running race at primary school but have now entered the Brighton marathon which I will complete as I turn 50.

Thanks Helen!
